About Feni
Feni spent most of her mid-twenties convincing herself she’d “figure out money stuff later.” Later came faster than expected. she found herself with three different debts, a savings account that never seemed to go anywhere, and a vague sense that everyone else had worked out something she hadn’t.
She didn’t take a course or read a finance textbook. She started small: tracking spending in a notebook, trying the 50/30/20 rule (it didn’t fit her income at the time), and eventually building a budget system that actually worked for her specific situation. The process took longer than she expected and involved more failed attempts than she likes to admit.
That’s mostly what ThriftVine is about. Not the polished version of personal finance where everything clicks into place after one good decision. The messier version, where you build credit slowly, make investing mistakes, and figure out frugal habits that don’t make you miserable.
Feni writes from her own experience managing finances on a modest income, with a focus on practical systems over financial theory. She’s not a certified financial planner and doesn’t pretend to be. The content here is meant to help you think through your own situation, not tell you what to do with your money.
